Informed Boating ("the Service") is operated by Frankventure LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect: your name, email address, and username. We store a one-way hash of your password - we never store your actual password.

Vessel Data

You provide vessel information including specs, documents, photos, maintenance records, expenses, and other data related to your boats. This data is yours and is stored to provide the Service.

Usage Data

We collect basic usage information: pages visited, features used, and login timestamps. This helps us improve the Service and understand which features are valuable.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser cookies for authentication (session management) and local storage for user preferences (theme, sidebar state). We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide the Service - storing and displaying your vessel data, processing documents, running intelligent analysis
• To send you emails - account verification, password resets, maintenance reminders, and (if you opted in) product updates and tips
• To improve the Service - understanding usage patterns, fixing bugs, developing new features
• To process payments - if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe (see their privacy policy)

Third-Party Processors

We use the following services to provide the Service:

• Vercel - hosting and deployment (your data transits through Vercel servers)
• Upstash - database (Redis) where your vessel data is stored
• Anthropic - intelligent processing (when you use the Informed FirstMate, your vessel data is sent to Anthropic's API for analysis; Anthropic does not train on your data per their commercial terms)
• Resend - email delivery (transactional and marketing emails)
• Stripe - payment processing (for paid subscriptions)
• Vercel Blob - file storage (uploaded photos and documents)

Informed FirstMate and Your Data

When you use the Informed FirstMate, the relevant vessel data from your workspace is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, your data is not used to train their models. The data is processed in real-time and is not retained by Anthropic beyond the API request.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described above (service providers necessary to operate the platform). If you invite collaborators (broker, surveyor, etc.) to your vessel workspace, they can see the data you grant them access to based on their role.

Data Retention

Your data is stored as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Backups may retain data for up to 90 days before automatic purging.

Your Rights

• Access - You can view all your data in the platform at any time
• Export - You can export all your data as a ZIP file
• Delete - You can delete your account and all associated data
• Correct - You can edit any data in your workspace
• Opt out - You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

Children

The Service is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal information). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of material changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
